Code of Conduct for Centered Riding Instructors
Successful organizations create effective operational systems and depend upon individuals who take responsibility for their actions, are accountable for the services they deliver and use all their energies to fulfill the expectations of those they serve.
Centered Riding, Inc. expects its members to conduct themselves in a professional manner as described below to ensure the reputation of the organization and all of its members. (Words implying the masculine gender shall include the female gender and vice versa and words implying the singular shall include the plural and vice versa.)
- Integrity, continuous assessment, high standards and innovation are the foundations on which CRI is founded.
- CR members shall be equestrians, committed to the humane treatment and well-being of horses in their use and care.
- CR members should uphold issues of safety and fairness in all aspects of equestrian sport.
- CR members, particularly instructors, are expected to present themselves in a well turned-out manner in practical, business-like clothing while representing themselves as CR members.
- CR members shall not recklessly or maliciously damage the professional, private reputation, prospects or business of any other professional, whether or not that professional is a member.
- CR members should be respectful, completely trustworthy, truthful, positive, non-judgmental, exhibit honesty, loyalty and discretion in all equestrian related activities.
- CR members are expected to act without bias against an individual because of race, color, religion, gender, disability or sexual orientation.
- CR members are expected to refrain from representing their personal beliefs (whether they are political, religious or spiritual) while teaching Centered Riding. These beliefs are not to be presented in connection with Centered Riding or as those of Centered Riding, Inc.
This code of conduct and P&P is intended to guide members and to provide a positive climate for learning where both students and teachers experience a safe, healthy and caring environment. Their purpose is to foster respect and high expectations and motivate interest and enthusiasm.
Any CR member who engages in, or is party to, conduct inappropriate to a CR member will be subject, after due process, to such sanctions as the Board of Trustees of CRI may impose.
Further Expectations of CR Members:
- Members are encouraged to be life-long learners.
- Members are expected to take an active role in the activities of CRI.
- CR members should strive to preserve and enhance the image of the sport so that the organization’s reputation within the international equestrian community we serve will be maintained.
