Sally Swift
100th Anniversary Tribute
April 20, 2013
April
20, 1913 – April 20, 2013
"In
1986, I picked up a book on a coffee table at a friend’s house. It was called
"Centered Riding.” It changed my life forever. The impact of this woman went
far beyond her riding, her humility, her humour, and her gift of "hands-on.”
Her depth of knowledge was inspirational! What a legacy she has left
behind.” Dawn Ruthven

"I
think Centered Riding will outlive Sally for a long, long time. There’s
something Sally has given to other people. It’s a funny thing when you think of
it – a lot of very intelligent people have taken on horses with a passion.
Sally looked at it with a whole different slant – it’s almost like she looked
at it sideways. That’s a huge part of the reason why everyone is talking about
her today. She was a visionary.” Denny Emerson
Sally
Swift – a truly caring person who touched the lives of so many. Your dearest
dream for Centered Riding will become your legacy. It will be part of all good
riding. You are remembered with gratitude and love by horses and humans.”
Sally Haney
"Sally Swift is a name easy to pronounce and impossible
forget.”
Francois
Lemaire de Ruffieu
On April 20, 2013, members of Centered
Riding, including some of Sally Swift's original apprentices, met at the Putney
Inn in Putney, Vermont to commemorate Sally's 100th birthday by sharing fond
memories of Sally and exploring some team-building exercises to help strengthen
Sally’s legacy. Sally lived a very full life for nearly 96 years and left
behind many friends and supporters who remember her with great fondness.
