Join the Swelling Ranks of Centered Riding® Instructors

The demand for Centered Riding® Instructors is growing steadily with requests for instructors coming into the website from around the world. Learn how to use Centered Riding® techniques to help your students become effective riders more quickly – and the horses really love it!

Pre-requisites:

  • Minimum of 18 years of age is recommended
  • Have taught riding for a minimum of one year (for pay or not)
  • Have ridden in a minimum of one Centered Riding® Open Clinic (recommended) or as a student rider in a Centered Riding® Instructors’ Course (or Update Clinic) provided endorsement is obtained from the Level IV Instructor of that Course or have a recommendation from a Level III or IV Centered Riding® Instructor after taking a minimum of six lessons .

  • Must be able to ride independently in good balance at the walk, trot, canter or lope, trot serpentines, and work over ground poles
    • Accommodations for disabled instructors will be made on a case by case
      basis
  • Must have read the Policies and Procedures (they are on our website and available from our office office@centeredriding.org)
  • Must be able to demonstrate safe teaching practices

Centered Riding® Instructors’ Course

Only Level IV Centered Riding® Instructors (often with an assistant) teach the Instructors’ program and the course size is limited to a maximum of 12 student instructors. The program is taught worldwide.

The course format is two clinics with Part 1 being 3 days and Part 2 is 4 days with about 4-8 weeks between the two parts. To complete the program, Candidates may only be absent for one-half day of the 7 days. Candidates must be able to demonstrate that they both understand and can apply the principles of Centered Riding® through their riding and teaching for successful completion of the program.

  • Part 1 (3 days) covers Centered Riding® Inc.’s Policies and Procedures, how to teach Centered Riding® techniques, un-mounted and mounted awareness exercises, mounted lessons and discussion time.
  • Part 2 (4 days) includes a review of Part 1, practice teaching, new un-mounted and mounted awareness exercises, mounted lessons and discussion time.

On successful completion of the Course

  • You will receive a certificate stating that you have completed the program
  • You are entitled to advertise yourself as a Level I Centered Riding® Instructor and that you teach using Centered Riding® techniques
  • You will be listed in both our Annual Directory and on our Website
  • To remain current you must pay your dues annually and participate in a Centered Riding® Instructor Update Clinic at least every two years
